Oil are calling teams out east for a guy with size and scoring touch

The Edmonton Oilers have made numerous phone calls to teams throughout the east. They are trying to dangle one of Gilbert or Smid along with a forward to make teams bite.

I will be back with more when I hear which teams are listening.

I know everybody would love Milan Lucic on this team but lets face it, he is not going anywhere. Maybe a Blake Wheeler type player is more available. Staying in the Boston Organization how about the Oil try to land Joe Colborne somehow? This guy seems like a monster and good be a steal if the Oilers could pry him away from the Bruins??

Another guy that the oilers might be inquiring about, although he is in the Nashville organization now is Hugh Jessiman. This seems kinda weird but the Oilers think that under Rob Daum's guidance this guy can be a useful 4th liner. This guy is a monster and the oilers could have him relatively cheap. They reportedly offered a 2010 5th round draft pick at this years entry draft.

To go more proven know, Ryan Malone seems like a guy that would thrive under Pat Quinn.

Once I learn more of the teams the Oilers are talking with, I will let you know more!

Signings May Be Close!

The Oilers brass has sent out offers to a couple of players who are pondering them as we speak.

The offer sent out to Ladislav Smid is in the ball park for just under 2 million a season-In the 1.925 million mark.

The other offer has been to Gilbert Brule. Although he wants a 1-way contract the oilers are hesitant to give him that. The offer he recieved from the Oilers is a 1 year contract at 800K.

Personally I think both contract offers are legit. Brule has 1 year to show his worth and land a decent extension with a good year, and Smid gets a good raise with the opportunity of a bigger raise come 2 years.
